On sunday night a tornado knocked out a hospital in Missouri and caused many deaths across the city. The tornado left many homes cut off from telephone connection, and without electricity. Thirty people have been killed, and eleven bodies have been recovered from just one location. St. John's Regional Medical Center was abandoned, and the triage unit set up to care for patients was moved across the street when the hospital caught fire.
I think that it is terrible that this happened, and people were killed and injured. I wish that somehow the cities could have been evacuated so that this tragic event could not have happened.

Acid Rain
1.) List a few of the gases which lead to acid rain.
sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides
2.) What is the source of much of the acid rain producing gases in Pennsylvania?
The source of most sulfur dioxide is high-sulfur coal burned in power plants
3.) Briefly explain how acid rain forms.
Acid rain forms when sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere combine with water to form sulfuric acid and nitric acid, respectively. These acids, mixed with rainwater, fall to Earth as acid rain, snow or fog and can acidify lakes and streams in the Northeast.

Mudslides
- What are some natural factors causing mudslides in Guatemala?
- One natural factor causing mudslides in Guatemala is the earthquakes and Guatemala's terrain and muddy soil.
- What are some human factors causing mudslides in Guatemala?
- Some human factors that can cause mudslides is the lack of trees because humans are cutting them down to burn, and make room for crops.
- What is being done to help reduce mudslides and mudslide damage?
- People in Guatemala are getting fuel efficient cooking stoves to save more trees, and people are trying to cut less trees.

The amount of rainfall effects whether the soil is grassland or forest soil because the grassland gets less rainfall than the forest soil gets.
Grassland does not have as much tree growth. Both forest soil and grassland soil are fertile for farming, they both have deep soil profiles.
Forest soil is on the East side of the United States and grassland soil is on the west and south.
